Cayla was born and raised in Vancouver and completed her Bachelors in Nutritional Science with honours at UBC. During her undergrad is when she discovered the field of nutri-epigenomics and started working in the lab to pursue her interest in how specific nutrients can impact the epigenome. She started her PhD program in Human nutrition in the Stefanska Lab where her main interest is how certain bioactive compounds can impact cancer.
In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, cooking, drinking coffee, and going to the golf range.
