Dr. Gina Ogilvie Awarded Dr. Chew Wei Memorial Prize in Cancer Research

Congratulations to WHRI Associate Director Dr. Gina Ogilvie on her receipt of the 2026 Dr. Chew Wei Memorial Prize in Cancer Research.

Dr. Ogilvie received this honour for her continuing work in the field of cervical cancer prevention. Outside of her work on the WHRI executive team, Dr. Ogilvie is a professor at the UBC School of Population and Public Health, a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Global Control of HPV-Related Disease and Cancer, and a senior public health scientist at the BC Centre for Disease Control. Her work with the Global Control of HPV-Related Disease and Cancer team has helped advance HPV vaccination and screening, for example through the launch of the Cervix Self-Screening program that has helped improve access to HPV screening, particularly for underserved communities.

The Dr. Chew Wei Memorial Prize was awarded as one of three Faculty of Medicine National Research Prizes, awarded to UBC researchers demonstrating excellence in discovery, leadership, mentorship, and the translation of research into meaningful benefits for people both in Canada and around the world.
