Biography:

 

Smritee Dabee is a Research Associate at the Women’s Health Research Institute, at BC Women’s Hospital, and at the University of British Columbia. She is also affiliated with McMaster University and Simon Fraser University. Her research, which started at the University of Cape Town and the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, focuses on the relationship between the genital milieu and STI susceptibility. Broadly, Smritee’s passion revolves around investigating sexually transmitted infection dynamics and reproductive health across continents. Smritee has a particular interest in investigating the role of vaginal bacterial and fungal communities, inflammation, contraceptive use, and other socio-bio-behavioural factors in genital health. At WHRI, she is currently investigating the long-term efficacy of the HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening programs in a Canadian setting.
