Potka, Shera
Biography:
Dr. Shera Potka is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on the responsible development and application of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with expertise in large language models, AI ethics, digital health, and machine learning. She is particularly interested in improving patient-centered communication, promoting equitable access to healthcare technologies, and developing trustworthy AI systems for clinical and public health settings. Shera completed her PhD in Computer Science at the University of Victoria, where her research examined fairness, bias, and privacy in AI. She has received multiple Best Paper Awards for her research and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to translate AI innovations into real-world healthcare impact.
