Centeno Duque, Manuel
Biography:
Manuel is a biology graduate student at the University of Victoria, supervised by Dr. Nicole Templeman. His research examines how hyperinsulinemia contributes to female reproductive aging. Specifically, whether acutely reducing endogenous insulin production in adulthood can improve reproductive and metabolic health and intergenerational susceptibility to disease. Before the Templeman Lab, Manuel completed a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Biology at Thompson Rivers University, where he conducted research across vascular physiology, analytical chemistry, and microbiology. He is also the founder of the Microbiology Outreach Foundation, a nonprofit providing hands-on microbiology education to underserved rural and Indigenous communities across British Columbia. With his experience in science communication and passion for research, Manuel aims to build a career focused on improving health equity.
