Biography:

 

Kira is a recent graduate of the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Kira’s research focuses on the intersection of female sex hormones and cerebrovascular health, with an honours thesis investigating cerebral blood flow responses across the menstrual cycle under the supervision of Dr. Kurt Smith. She is passionate about addressing the sex-based disparities in sport science and brain health research, driven by both lived experience as an elite rugby player and academic curiosity. Kira has also contributed to community sport outreach programs, promoting physical acitvity to under-resourced schools and promoting sport participation among young girls. Her goal is to contribute to a more equitable research landscape that prioritizes the unique health needs of women and girls across all stages of life.
