Biography:

 

Dr. Kedar K. V. Mate is a resident in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia. He completed his M.D., C.M. and Ph.D. at McGill University, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, USA, and McGill University. Before entering medical school, he served as Director of Outcomes Research at the Cleveland Clinic.
Kedar’s research program focuses on measuring patient-centered outcomes through innovative research methods and developing and validating outcome measures using modern psychometric approaches, including Rasch analysis. His work integrates clinical medicine, implementation science, global health, and applied biostatistics to generate evidence that improves healthcare delivery and advances equitable patient care across diverse settings.
His academic interests include global surgery, maternal and child health, trauma systems, health services research, and the development and evaluation of innovative healthcare solutions. His current research includes maternal health and stillbirth, obstetric care in humanitarian settings, rural obstetric care, and trauma and prehospital systems.
Kedar is also an entrepreneur and passionate mentor. He is developing a Global Research Mentorship and Consultation Program to support trainees, clinicians, and early-career researchers, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. He is committed to building international research collaborations and translating rigorous research into meaningful improvements in clinical practice, healthcare delivery, and health policy.
