Biography:

 

I am a Staff Anesthesiologist at BC Women’s Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia. I completed my anesthesiology residency at UBC followed by fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesia at the University of Toronto and have practiced at BC Women’s since 2010.

My clinical and academic interests include obstetric anesthesia, peripartum pain management, neuraxial ultrasound, and the care of pregnant patients with substance use disorders. My scholarly work includes peer-reviewed research in neuraxial ultrasound and multidisciplinary initiatives focused on complex pain and substance use in pregnancy. More recently, I contributed to the section on substance use disorder in pregnancy for the obstetric anesthesia chapter of the Oxford Handbook of Anaesthesia, 6th Edition.

I am actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and have held several leadership roles at BC Women’s, including Acting Department Head and UBC Anesthesia Residency Site Coordinator. My academic interests centre on improving the safety and quality of care for women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.
