Dr. Rubee Dev
Biography:
Rubee Dev completed a PhD in Nursing Science from the University of Washington (UW) in
Seattle, USA. Her PhD dissertation was “Developing a Family Planning Counseling Intervention
for Women and Adolescent Girls in Resource-Limited Settings.” She received Bachelor of Science
degree in Nursing (BSN) from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Nepal in 2007, and
worked as a Nursing Instructor in Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University School of Medical
Sciences between 2007-2012. In 2012, she was selected as a Fulbright and a P.E.O. International
Peace scholar to pursue a Master’s in Public Health with a specialty in Maternal and Child Health
at the UW and graduated with a master’s degree in 2014. To continue to grow her research skills,
she further pursued a PhD in Nursing Science at the UW – with field work in Kenya – and graduated
in June 2018.
Currently, Ms. Dev is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of
Alberta. She recently completed her 2-years postdoctoral research fellowship from the Sun Yatsen
University Global Health Institute, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. Her area of
research interest is maternal and child health specifically as it relates to reproductive health of
women and safe motherhood, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, chronic disease
prevention and management, and health systems research. In particular, much of her work entails
extensive research to identify the data gaps and opportunities for action in meeting the needs of
women and strengthening the evidence base. She is well verged in conducting both qualitative and
quantitative research.
