Biography:

Dr. Emily Kieran received her Medical Degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She completed her General Pediatrics and initial Neonatal training in Ireland. She was awarded a PhD for her research in the use of central vascular catheters in newborn infants from University College Dublin. Drawn by the mountains, Dr. Kieran came to BC Women’s Hospital, first completing a Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine before being hired as a Neonatologist and Clinical Assistant Professor in 2018.

Dr. Kieran’s main area of clinical and research interest surrounds the care of Neonates with Complex Medical Needs, those on long-term respiratory support and technology dependent at discharge.

Dr. Kieran’s area of particular research interest is the care of Newborns with medical complexity, who have prolonged admissions to the NICU, and babies who are technology dependent at time of going home.
