Biography:

Connor Larkey is a Research Assistant in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and the Division of Medical Sciences at the University of Victoria. He earned his Honours Bachelor of Science in Cellular, Anatomical, and Physiological Sciences from UBC, where his thesis in neuroscience explored the promotion of remyelination in multiple sclerosis.

Connor’s research brings together neuroscience, critical care, and cell biology, with a particular emphasis on how the brain and heart respond to injury. In his clinical work, he investigates hypoxic-ischemic brain injury following cardiac arrest, using advanced neuroimaging techniques, physiological monitoring, and biomarker analysis to characterize patterns of brain injury. In his preclinical work, Connor examines sex-specific neuroinflammatory responses and cellular mechanisms underlying neurological and cardiovascular disease. His work leverages quantitative imaging, advanced microscopy, and translational physiology to connect cellular findings with clinical outcomes.
