Biography:

Claire Hewson is based in Nelson, British Columbia. She balances her leadership work with roles as a school counsellor and a third-year PhD student at Queen’s University, where she studies healthcare quality. Her doctoral research focuses on experiences of breast- and chest-feeding grief in rural settings, with the aim of understanding the emotional impacts of breast- and chest-feeding challenges and improving access to equitable and inclusive postpartum support. She is a trainee with the Canadian Breastfeeding Research Network, the vice-chair for Postpartum Support International Canada, and previously worked as an online support group facilitator for PSI International.

Claire is deeply passionate about perinatal mental health and supporting parents and children in both community and school settings. She lives in the mountains with her husband and two young children, ages three and five.
