Acosta Bedon, Ana
Biography:
Ana Acosta Bedón is an MSc student from the Medical Genetics program at the University of British Columbia. She plans to transfer to the PhD program to continue her research on genomic variation, improving its interpretation in both population-level newborn screening and rare disease contexts. She is originally from Ecuador and earned her Honors Bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto in Canada, with support from an Ecuadorian government scholarship. She has been involved in research projects focused on improving the screening of cervical cancer in underserved communities in Ecuador. Her studies also include a master’s degree in Barcelona, Spain, where she researched genomic signatures of natural selection in Latin American populations.
