Biography:

 

Alexandra Coates is an assistant professor and director of the Exercise Physiology and Performance Laboratory at Simon Fraser University. Her research is in applied exercise physiology, with a focus on understanding the impacts of varied exercise stimuli to systems level adaptations. A key objective of the lab is to advance the understanding of adaptive and maladaptive responses to exercise and energy stress in humans, which includes research on sex differences and female-specific exercise physiology, overtraining, under-fuelling, cardiovascular and autonomic responses to prolonged or strenuous exercise, and performance related training monitoring.
