Biography:

Dr. Melba D’Souza at the School of Nursing, Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia (BC), Canada. Her program of scholarship focuses on the critical area of psychosocial oncology and cancer care, employing mixed methods and community participatory research. Her work is based on intersectionality and socioecological lenses, especially emphasizing the needs of immigrants, refugees, older adults, and rural communities in Kamloops. She has made significant contributions to knowledge translation, mobilization, and contextual evidence in nursing knowledge and sciences, keeping pace with the latest advancements in the nursing field. She collaborates with interdisciplinary researchers, academic institutes, community partners, the Population Health and Aging Rural Research Centre and the Kamloops Cancer Supportive Care Society. Currently, she continues to make substantial contributions to the field of psychosocial oncology care, with a particular focus on improving outcomes and experiences for people, caregivers, and partners in rural communities of British Columbia, Canada.
