Only graduate students (masters or doctoral level) who have been engaged in research relevant to women’s and/or newborn health are eligible.  Graduate students can only apply to one of the WHRI Graduate Achievement Award or the BCCHR Outstanding Achievement Award.

At time of application:

• Applicants must be or have been registered as full-time graduate students at a university in British Columbia, within the following time frames:  
• Masters:  At least 12 months completed by the application deadline; or, the application deadline is within 12 months after thesis defense 
• Doctoral: At least 36 months completed by the application deadline; or, the application deadline is within 12 months after thesis defense

Please note that international students who are registered as graduate students at a BC university are eligible to apply as long as they meet the other criteria.  Masters degrees include MSc, MA, and MPH; Doctoral degrees include PhD.

• Applicants must be a WHRI student/trainee member. There is no fee to become a member and any trainee engaged in women’s health research at a BC-based university is eligible for membership. • The applicant’s primary or co-supervisor must also be a member of the WHRI. Any researcher engaged in women’s health research at a BC-based university is eligible for membership. If the applicant and/or supervisor would like to inquire about the supervisor’s current WHRI membership status, please contact Kathryn Dewar (kdewar@cw.bc.ca). 
• Applicants engaged in women’s health research in any of the four pillars of health research (biomedical; clinical; health systems services; and social, cultural, environmental and population health), including global health, are eligible to apply.
• Applicants must be available to receive the award in-person at the WHRI symposium on March 8, 2024
