Biography:

23 years of experience in Women’s healthcare: midwife, nurse, educator, lactation consultant. My career began as a midwife in the National Health Service in England. Upon returning to Canada to be closer to family, I have worked in various nursing roles in post-partum and antepartum home care as a Centering Pregnancy facilitator at Vancouver Coastal Health and as a sessional clinical instructor for Trinity Western University in Fraser Health. For the last 17 years, I have loved seeing my career evolve as a lactation leader and educator for PHSA. I aim to advocate for protecting, promoting, and supporting human milk feeding in hospitals. I am passionate about the non-separation of the vulnerable dyad postpartum and helping families meet their infant feeding goals. Advancing through my master’s degree at Trinity Western University, my learning path has opened doors to quality improvement project work with antenatal hand expression and practice-based research with families in recovery. I am committed to improving the quality and safety of care of postpartum mothers/parents and babies and lifelong learning.
