Biography:

Dr. Sebbag completed her MD (2004) and Residency in Anesthesiology (2009) at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), where she subsequently worked as a staff anesthesiologist for 3 years, as well as an official instructor for the AHA ACLS courses. In 2005, she served as a military physician (2nd Lieutenant) at the Brazilian Air Force. From 2012-2014, she came to Canada, specifically the University of British Columbia, in order to complete a fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesia and in General with a focus in Regional Anesthesia. She subsequently worked at UWO for 2 years as a fellow and 7 years as a consultant anesthesiologist, at which point she was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor and obtained her independent license in Ontario and BC.

Dr. Sebbag has several national and international anesthesia meetings’ presentations, as well as multiple peer-reviewed publications. In 2015, one of her studies gained media attention, when she gave an interview to the local news channel CTV London. She was also a member of the Canadian Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy Working Group, having authored the anesthesia chapters for the SOGC Guidelines on the Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (2014) and the FIGO Textbook of Pregnancy Hypertension – an evidence-based guide to monitoring, prevention, and management (2016).
