Dr. Kate Chipperfield
Biography:
Dr. Chipperfield is the Division Head of Hematopathology at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Health Center laboratory. Prior to this, she was a staff Hematopathologist and Medical Director of the Transfusion Medicine Laboratory at Vancouver General Hospital for eleven years.
Dr. Chipperfield is a Clinical Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She is the Program Director of the UBC Hematological Pathology Residency program. In the past, she Chaired BC’s Transfusion Medicine Advisory Group (TMAG) for seven years, and is a past chair of the Royal College Hematological Pathology examination board. She completed her undergraduate Medicine and Internal Medicine training at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr Chipperfield completed her residencies in Clinical Hematology and Hematopathology at UBC.
