Biography:

 

Patricia May-Derbyshire is a PhD candidate in Interactive Art and Technology at Simon Fraser University, situated within the Indigitalization and Pain Studies Labs. Her research explores relational trust, genocide-informed health technologies, complex trauma, chronic pain, and care pathways following sexual assault. Her work is grounded in relationships with xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Medicine Garden (UBC) and Siksikaitsitapi communities, and in supporting Indigenous clinical psychologists and women’s governance systems that restore cultural continuity, kinship, and wellbeing. Guided by peers and Elders, she documents and shares stories of survivance and resilience. Through collaborative design, writing, and community-engaged practice, she works toward reimagined care pathways and health technologies grounded in reciprocity.
