Squier, Kipling
Biography:
Dr. Kipling (Kip) Squier completed his PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at UBC in 2025 under the supervision of Dr. Alex Scott in the Tendinopathy Research Group. Using innovative in vivo imaging and tendon mechanics estimation techniques, Kip’s work has focused on how factors such as metabolism, hormones, and mechanical stimulation influence connective tissue properties. His research interests broadly include the mechanical and structural behaviour of musculoskeletal tissues during functional movement. Drawing from his background as a clinical kinesiologist, Kip conducts participant-centered research aimed at addressing critical gaps in knowledge surrounding tendon injury and rehabilitation.
Research areas of interest:
Effects of ovarian hormones, metabolic disorders, mechanical loading on connective tissue biomechanics and structure
