Biography:
Isabella is a graduate student at UBC in the Cell and Developmental biology program in the Elizabeth Rideout Lab. Her area of research involves understanding sex differences in type 1 diabetes, where women seem to demonstrate more resiliency to onset of the disease, but have been perpetually under researched in the past. She aims to understand the cellular mechanisms that drive these sex differences in order to improve pancreatic function under type 1 diabetes stress in both sexes. Isabella also completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at UBC and previously worked during her degree at BC Women and Children’s Research institute in another diabetes lab.
