Biography:

 

Dr Larissa Rossen is an Assistant Professor in Counselling Psychology at Trinity Western University. Her emerging program of research is centered on perinatal (the time between conception and 1-year after birth) mental health, parenting, and child and family outcomes. Dr Rossen’s doctoral dissertation research, supported by scholarships from the University of New South Wales, the Australian National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, and Australian Centre for Perinatal Science, was titled “A longitudinal study of pregnancy and the first year of life,” and examined prospective predictors of maternal bonding and maternal mental health in the perinatal period. She has recently held a Michael Smith
Foundation for Health Research Trainee award at the University of British Columbia and BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Her ongoing research program brings together qualitative and quantitative expertise in the perinatal period, with research outputs published in well-respected, international journals such as JAMA Pediatrics (IF=26.1) and Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (IF=9.2). Dr Rossen’s students have received CGS-M awards and research has attracted several awards and scholarships, as well as opportunities to present at international conferences and events. She is a therapist in private practice in British Columbia where she predominantly uses the Internal Family Systems (IFS) modality.
