Biography:
Dr. Mahdieh Shokrollahi Barough is a PhD candidate and cancer researcher at the University of Victoria, where she is actively engaged in translational research on breast cancer. Her current work focuses on developing localized drug delivery systems—specifically injectable hydrogels—for enhancing the efficacy and safety of immune-based therapies in solid tumors. She brings over a decade of practical and academic experience in tumor immunology and has contributed to more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals.
Her research interests span the interface of cancer biology, immunotherapy, and women’s health, with a strong focus on breast cancer mechanisms, therapeutic response, and innovation in localized treatment strategies. She has also been involved in two clinical trials related to immune cell therapies, gaining hands-on experience in patient engagement, ethical compliance, and trial coordination.
Dr. Shokrollahi Barough is committed to supporting women’s health through both science and community-driven initiatives.
