Biography:

 

Dr Mehwish Anwer is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health. Dr Anwer is investigating blood based biomarkers of endometriosis with Dr David Huntsman and Dr Paul Yong. Within her neuroscience research, Dr Anwer investigates processes that occur in the brain after traumatic injury and their association with dementia. Dr Anwer is the recipient of the 2024 Canadian Institute for Health Research Fellowship and the 2024 Health Research BC fellowship. Dr Anwer was also awarded the 2022 Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health Jock & Irene Graham Brain Research Endowment award and the 2023 UBC Faculty of Medicine Bluma Tischler Postdoctoral Fellowship. Dr Anwer acquired her doctoral degree from University of Eastern Finland through the prestigious Marie Skłodowska Curie PhD fellowship awarded by the European Union.
