Biography:

 

Dr. Carrie Kollias, is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, clinical educator, and researcher. She investigates children’s musculoskeletal health, physician wellness and women surgeon occupational health. She completed her medical degree and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Calgary, followed by fellowships in pediatric orthopedics and limb reconstruction at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Kollias has worked in both Canada and Australia, including several years in Alberta, then Melbourne, Australia where she served as Deputy Director of Orthopaedics at the Royal Children’s Hospital. As of January 2025, Dr. Kollias is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia and serves as Co-Director of Mentorship and Wellness in the Department of Orthopaedics.

Dr. Kollias holds a Master of Business Administration from Imperial College London and is involved in several mentorship and advocacy initiatives related to healthcare culture and inclusion. She currently serves as an elected board member of the College of Physicians of British Columbia. She is also the author of Maria’s Marvelous Bones, a children’s book that introduces basic bone science and highlights diversity in medicine. She is based in Vancouver and continues to support local and international collaborations in pediatric orthopedic care.
