Biography:

 

Amanda Yonkman is a PhD student at Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. Under the supervision of Dr. Elizabeth King, Amanda is training to become an epidemiologist in the field of women’s health. She began her research career with an MSc in Health Sciences, where she used machine learning to study the impacts of environmental chemical exposures on maternal and infant health. She also worked for several years as a Research Coordinator for the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS, using administrative data to explore healthcare utilization trends of people living with HIV. For her current research, Amanda is studying the impacts of clinical, sociodemographic, and sex- and gender-related factors on healthy aging in women living with HIV.
