Tony Yang

Biography:
Hi there! My name is Tony Yang and I am currently a 1^st year Master’s student in the Stefanska Lab at the University of British Columbia. Our lab looks into the field of Nutriepigenomics, specifically, how certain dietary bioactive compounds can modulate the epigenome in the context of cancer – primarily through DNA methylation, but also through other epigenetic mechanisms, such as non-coding RNA-mediated mechanisms. One of our recent studies looked into how pterostilbene, a bioactive compound found in blueberries, was able to produce anti-cancer effects in breast cancer cells.
