M.A Gender Studies

Gender-related matters have become a controversial issue within sub-Saharan African and, most specifically, Ghana (country of origin), concerning education, health, law, politics, drugs and delinquency. These reasons have steered the direction of my academic passion in the Social Sciences and Humanities. As an undergraduate program, sociology has broadened my intellectual scope regarding development, social problems, and, most notably, the social human being. Currently, with a strong passion for advocating for female development, I am pursuing my Masters of Art in Gender studies at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). With the relevant perspectives and theories that I will gain about women, their needs can be met effectively to affect women’s general well-being. Therefore, I would like to use the academic capabilities as a sociologist to help Canada and  Ghana dig deep into the interventions that will help curb down women’s predominant health and social issues.
