Biography:

Yasmine Tremblay is an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia dedicated to advancing health equity through impactful research. As a member of the UBC Women’s Health Research Cluster’s Perinatal Mental Health Working Group, she contributes to initiatives aimed at improving mental health outcomes for women during the perinatal period.

Yasmine is also actively involved in a groundbreaking study based in Malawi, focusing on neonatal outcomes after discharge from hospital care. This research aims to develop sustainable follow-up systems for high-risk neonates, addressing critical gaps in post-discharge care and contributing to global efforts to improve child health and survival in low- and middle-income countries.

In addition, Yasmine is a research volunteer at the Barr Lab, where she is exploring conceptions of medical marijuana use among pediatric oncology and neurology patients at BC Children’s Hospital. Her work bridges clinical and community perspectives, seeking to improve understanding and care strategies for young patients and their families.

Through her diverse research experiences, Yasmine strives to enhance health outcomes locally and globally, while developing her expertise for a future career in health research and policy.

Research areas of interest:

Perinatal mental health, neonatal care in low-resource settings, pediatric healthcare, health equity, evidence-based health interventions.
