Elrick, Carrie
Biography:
I have a career long interest on the the social determinants to women’s health with a focus on the effects of abuse and violence on women’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. My research focuses on the socioeconomic context of women and the workplace and the impact of restricted opportunities to accessing labour opportunities due to structural inequalities and, the positive effect of building social capital for women’s health.
I am a Board Member with the Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women (CRIAW) a national organization that conducts feminist research from an intersectional lens on Canadian women’s social and economic situation.
I support women to achieve economic security through a program I developed called Circle Mentoring. Our model places three mentors to one mentee in a group circle to focus on a career goal. We support the mentee to get to where the she wants to go and subsequently improve her economic position.
