Malholtra, Nisha
Biography:
Dr. Nisha Malhotra is a senior researcher at the Birthplace Lab within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she leads a research team dedicated to addressing inequities in perinatal care across the United States and Canada. With over 20 years of academic experience, her interdisciplinary research focuses on health behaviour, health inequities, and maternal and child health.
Currently, she is working on quantitative and mixed-methods evaluations of healthcare in Canada. She has extensive experience in survey design and research methodology and contributes to community-centred health services research and knowledge translation projects. Dr. Malhotra holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Master’s from the Delhi School of Economics. Before her role at the Birthplace Lab, she was a tenured faculty member at the Vancouver School of Economics and worked with organizations like the World Bank and the Indian Council for Research in International Economic Relations. Committed to interdisciplinary collaboration, she actively mentors emerging scholars and partners with communities to promote gender equity in health.
