Join us for our annual World Sexual Health Day celebrations!
This year we will celebrate World Sexual Health Day virtually on September 11th from 12:00pm – 1:30pm. Are you a trainee, student, fellow, or other researcher in training? We invite you to present your completed research, research in progress, or any planned research in our exciting rapid-fire format (approximately 5 minute presentations). The theme this year is Sexual Pleasure in Times of COVID-19, so we ask that presenters prepare to speak on ways their work was impacted by the pandemic, if at all.

Welcome, Genny!
Please join us in welcoming our newest staff member, Dr. Genevieve Breau!
Genevieve Breau recently joined Dr. Lori Brotto’s team at the Women’s Health Research Institute as a research coordinator, leading the SUPPORT [Survey and Development of a Universally Accessible Postpartum Online Resource for the Treatment of Postpartum Depression] study. The aim of this study is to develop an evidence-based website to assist women with perinatal depression and other perinatal mental health concerns. She will be carrying the project into the web development stage with help from medical student Shailee Siddhpuria, and also collaborating with other research staff, notably Rebecca Jules, on incorporating feedback provided by women from Indigenous and immigrant communities. She is excited to use her experience working in mental health research in this position.
Genevieve received a PhD in Interdisciplinary Oncology from the University of British Columbia in 2017, and previously received a Master of Arts in Health Promotion and a Bachelor of Science (Honour’s) in Neuroscience, both from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Since completing her PhD, she has worked in numerous departments and faculties at the University of British Columbia, including the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences, the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. In her spare time, Genevieve is currently enrolled in French classes at the University of British Columbia Extended Learning and participates in ballet and contemporary dance classes at Harbour Dance Centre in downtown Vancouver. She is also a Young Associate at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and is a long-time volunteer at the gallery.
